Scope and Content Aviemore was a small Highland village till it was developed as a ski resort in the 1960s. In 1966 the Aviemore Centre was opened with hotels, a swimming pool, an ice rink, shops, restaurants and Santa Claus Land but by the late 1990s a large part of the centre had been demolished and it has since been redeveloped. The Centre can be seen in this photograph in the centre of picture with the Strathspey Hotel, one of the few buildings of the original centre to survive. The railway station is to right of centre and the A9 runs across the upper part of the picture. The old A9 ran through the village and it is now the B9152 and runs across the lower part of the photo. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
