Description Oblique aerial view of settlement site at Kerrynamanoch, Strath Brora, Sutherland, looking SE.

Date 2000

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1903253

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Canmore records two possible hut circles beside the Allt an Sgiobail, possibly also later used as sheepfolds, but image indicates three circles -- one truncated by river erosion. The head dyke above relates to the 18th-C Kerrynamanoch township. Between the two sites, on the same side of the Allt but not visible on image, two shieling huts are recorded. 3 enclosures are visible at right of image. Rig and furrow is widely evident. At foreground side of river, near left edge of image, the eye of faith can discern a possible unrecorded hut circle. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
