Scope and Content The A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road is in the foreground. In the centre of the photo is Norbord wood panel manufacturing factory. In front of the factory is Tom na Croiche or Gallowhill of Petty, where human remains were found in 1860. To the left of the factory, prehistoric remains were found of pits, charcoal, pottery sherds and postholes from round houses. In the trees to the right of the factory on a hillock is the site of Castle of Petty, of which nothing now remains. It was occupied by the Ogilvies and was destroyed by the clan McIntosh about 130 years ago. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
