Scope and Content Muchrach Castle, originally a square keep with, at one stage, extensive buildings was built in 1598 by the second son of John Grant of Freuchie and was the original seat of the Grants of Rothiemurchus. During the 1980s the castle was fully restored and is now holiday accommodation. There are the remains of a limekiln 90m WNW of the Castle.
