Scope and Content A distant view with Portmahomack Harbour to the right, which was improved by Telford 1811-16. In the centre is Tarbat Old Parish Church where there are references to the many early Medieval carved stones found in the Church Yard. There are the archaeological remains of a peckish monastic settlement below the burial ground. The photo shows a University of Bradford excavation in progress led by Prof Martin Carver. Excavations of the precinct around Tarbat revealed a Pictish monastery, with surviving remains of large industrial working areas, for gold, iron, leather, glass. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
