Scope and Content A slightly blurred image. Cromarty is in the foreground, the near right side was the Fishertown settlement. The harbour in the centre, constructed circa 1880, played an important part in the hemp industry and fishing. A ferry runs in summer across the Cromarty Firth to Nigg top right. Cromarty House in the foreground is a classical mansion built in 1772. It sits in a designed landscape and has an ice house, stables and servant's tunnel.
