An oblique aerial view of Millery, Berriedale, Latheron, Caithness, looking SE.

SC 1896669

Description An oblique aerial view of Millery, Berriedale, Latheron, Caithness, looking SE.

Date 1998

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1896669

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content A close view of various structures on the south facing slopes downstream from Millery Pool, on the R (here, northern) bank of Berriedale Water. Above and right of centre is a small enclosure in which fragments of a partition wall are just visible. The right hand section was a building of some sort with an enclosure to the left. These features lie within an area of former rig and furrow and have been recorded. However the cluster of structures in the lower left quadrant are not recorded and appear to indicate a hollow way with a longhouse below and left. Below the longhouse are possible outbuildings and left of the longhouse a roughly triangular enclosure with one curved wall. To its left is a circular enclosure with an attached building extending beyond it on the same alignment as the longhouse. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
