Scope and Content A wide view of Halkirk with the road bridge visible left of centre. Above and towards the far left of the bridge is the long white Combination Poor House. Below that and back across the river to the right is the water mill and on the same side of the river but in the upper centre the white gable wall of the manse stands out from surrounding by trees. Across the river to the left the 19th century Braal Castle and the site of an earlier castle are enveloped by more woodland and just below and left of that woodland is the site of a 20th century military camp. The site of the medieval Bishop's Palace lies in the field above the manse and right of the castle. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
