Scope and Content This extensive view shows the junction of the Cromarty Firth, at the Nigg, with the Moray Firth. The Nigg construction works are on the promontory in the centre, the southern tip of Tarbat Ness. The pier is just visible at the fabrication yard. The oil storage tanks are visible to the right at Nigg Oil terminal. Cromarty is below the headland across the Cromarty Firth. In the summer a ferry crosses between Nigg and Cromarty. Just down & R of centre, in the small clump of trees, is Nigg House, a Laird's House, with nearby Nigg old Church and Churchyard. The church houses a fine Class II Pictish stone. The Balnagowan River is bottom centre. There is a large fish trap in the firth to the R of the River. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
