Scope and Content This image shows the land between the centre of Tain burgh and the shallow coastline to its NE. At bottom R, the red-roofed building is the clubhouse for Tain Golf Course. Above it is the remains of St Duthus's chapel and burial ground. The most ancient of the three pre-reformation churches in Tain, this is thought to be the church to which his remains were translated in 1253. He is thought to have lived about 1000. It was the focus of pilgrimage in the C12. The River Tain is at bottom R. The burgh of Tain fills the centre of the photo.
