Scope and Content This is a view of the area to the south of the village on the east side of Little Loch Shin. Lairg is a crossing point for four roads and benefits from being on the North Highland Railway Line. It also has a livestock market. It is believed to be the site of an impact crater, dating to 1.5 billion years ago. Although there are many sites of archaeological interest in the area, there are none on the archaeological record in this photograph, with the exception of the Black Bridge which was built in 1986. The centre of the image seems to be a cirucular structure, also seen on later aerial photographs. There is extensive rig at bottom R. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
