Scope and Content Fearn airfield was built for the RAF in WW2. It was taken over by the Royal Navy in 1942, RNAS Fearn (HMS Owl). The photo shows crop marks of two U-shaped blast banks used to protect airplanes. On modern photos these are now completely ploughed out. The rectangular area just R of centre represents previous buildings, this is now reverted to scrub. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
