Scope and Content Tain grew up around the sanctuary of St. Duthac and was a focus of pilgrimage in late medieval times. Among its historic buildings are houses, churches, schools and the Tolbooth and Sheriff Court. The Duthac Centre was originally the Parish Church. This general view shows its position on the Dornoch Firth with the sweep of the A9 bypass which was opened in 1979.
