Scope and Content This view shows, just R of centre, the village of Kirkhill and the head of the Beauly Firth with the fertile productive land surrounding. Kirkhill is the location of St Marys Church and the Wardlaw Mausoleum (Canmore ID 12699), also the burial ground (Canmore ID 104528 ). The Wardlaw or Lovat Mausoleum was the last resting place of many of the earlier Fraser of Lovat Family until the establishment of Eskadale RC Parish Church, more recently it has been the burying place for the Frasers of Reelig. The site of Lovat Castle (Canmore ID 12678) is 1km to the NW of Kirkhill at Wester Lovat beside the river in the left half of the view.
