Scope and Content This view shows the settlement of Achnasheen, Ross-shire an important junction of E-W routeways in the Highlands. The Inverness- Kyle of Lochalsh railway is clearly seen and Achnasheen Station (Canmore ID 78686) is at the centre of the view. The Hotel (Canmore ID 78697) here was destroyed by fire c. 1995. The A832 (Garve to Gairloch/Braemore road) is seen in the view and in the top left corner the road junction, a roundabout, where the A890 (Achnasheen to Kyle road) joins. Just out of the view in this corner is the old bridge (Canmore ID 111261) over the River Braan which was built by Telford in 1818.
