Scope and Content This view shows the model crofting/fishing village of Plockton (Canmore ID 11905) in the foreground, one of the very few east-facing anchorages on the west coast. It was laid out in a spirit of economic optimism for the Earl of Seaforth in 1794. Beyond on the left the village of Ardaneaskan (Canmore ID 311667) is seen on the north shore of Loch Carron and on the right, in the narrows of Loch Carron, the sites of Strome Castle (Canmore ID 99579 and 11881) on the N shore and the village of Strome (Canmore ID 109151) on the S shore; the former ferry at Strome was bypassed in 1970.
