Scope and Content The village of Lochend is top left, the site of a township shown on the 1st Edition OS. At the righthand side on the land between Loch Dochfour and Loch Ness is the site of Fort Banatia where there are traces of a possible Roman camp. Beside is Castle Spiritual, the remains of some form of defence. In the foreground at the end of the loch there are the remains of the Bona Ferry piers and the mid 19c lighthouse and buildings associated with the Caledonian Canal.
