Scope and Content Inverness Airport was built on the land of Wester and Mid Kerrowgair Farms. It was established as an RAF station in 1940 and used during WW2. It opened for civilian flights in 1947 and operates flights to UK airports and some scheduled flights to continental Europe. It replaced the airfield at the Longman in Inverness as the airport for Inverness. There are several sites associated with WW2 within the boundaries of the airport. The 'new' terminal building shown in this photograph was opened by Donald Dewar on 13/7/1999. Sitting next to the airport is the Dalcross Industrial Estate. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
