Scope and Content This view shows the Invergordon Oil Rig Service Base and the former oil platform fabrication yard (Canmore ID 349945) in its left half. The Invergordon station (Canmore ID 14490) and railway are at the top of the view. Invergordon and the Cromarty Firth was an important Naval Base in both World Wars and the town has many remnants of the military activities. Beyond the railway a modern housing estate now occupies the site of a military camp and barrack block (Canmore ID 331981).
