Date 1996

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1867185

Scope and Content These fields contain the site of a Pictish cemetery near Tarradale House on the Black Isle. Cropmarks indicating square and round barrows could be seen in other aerial photographs and some can be seen in this photo, e.g. at the L edge of the photo. Part of the area around the uncultivated patch was excavated in 2019, uncovering a variety of enclosures, some of which may be earlier in date. The line of a mediaeval road can be seen running from centre left to centre right. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
