Scope and Content Ullapool was laid out in a grid pattern by the British Fisheries Society in 1788 when it was being developed as a herring port. It has become a tourist centre, fishing port and mainland terminal for the ferry to Lewis. There are several sites of interest within the town. Since this photo was taken the High School has moved from Quay Street (running across the centre of the picture) to a new building on the greenfield site above centre on Mill Street. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
