Scope and Content This is a close view of a rig under construction. The oil rig construction yard opened in Nigg Bay in 1972. By 2010 as a result of the downturn in the market, the yard was mothballed but in 2011 it gained a new lease of life as a hub for the energy industry. There are remains of a saltworks in the basin on the upper right of picture. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
