Scope and Content A wide view of the southern outskirts of Inverness. The line of General Wade's military road can be followed from the bottom edge towards the River Ness in the centre. In the triangular area left of the military road and right of the river the white buildings closest to the river are the 18th century Holm Mills, a water powered woollen mill. On the far left the river and Caledonian Canal run alongside each other and a swing bridge over the canal is visible beyond where the canal arcs away from the river and towards the wooded Tomnahurich Hill. The densest clump of trees in the lower right obscure a medieval motte. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
