Scope and Content The small town of Golspie showing the concrete pier, the remnants of the old wooden old pier is on its north side. There was a market stance at the top pf the pier, and the remains of the old gas works. They were built in 1840 for the Duke of Sutherland and extended in 1935 by the Thurso and N of Scotland Gas Corporation. Beside it are former fishermen's cottages and numerous references to other houses. The Lawson memorial hospital is at the top of Golspie to the left.
