Scope and Content This close view shows Castle Tioram in the centre right. It is a massive 13c stronghold with later keep on an island linked by a tidal causeway. It was first mentioned in 1372 as the seat of the Clanranalds. It was garrisoned by the government in 18c, burned down in 1715 and abandoned. It is a scheduled monument but too fragile to allow public access. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
