Scope and Content Mallaig is the terminus of the West Highland Railway, seen coming round to the harbour. The harbour was completed in 1901 by the West Highland Extension Railway. There are references to boat sheds and boat yards and slipways. It is a busy port with boats leaving for fishing and the Western Isles. There is a recent statue of a fisherman and child on the end of the jetty. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
