Scope and Content This is a general view of the west side of Inverness showing Scorguie towards the top of picture and Dalneigh and Muirtown at the bottom. The Caledonian Canal runs across the centre into the Muirtown Basin and the sea lock at Clachnaharry. On the lower side of the canal at centre are two distilleries - Glenmohr (left) and Glenalbyn. Glenalbyn Distillery was established in 1844 and Glenmhor was built in 1892. Both fell victim to the whisky crisis in the 1980s and closed in 1983. The green square beside the Glenmhor Distillery is the Caledonian Football Club's ground on Telford Street. This was sold following the amalgamation of Inverness Caledonian and Inverness Thistle Football clubs in the 1990s and the building of the new stadium on the Longman. These three sites have been developed for commercial purposes. Inverness High School, at bottom left, moved from the Crown to its present site in Dalneigh in 1937. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
