Scope and Content In the middle distance is Iona Abbey, a modern restoration of a Benedictine Abbey, whose Church became the cathedral of the Bishops of the Isles in 1499. It was founded before 1203 and became ruined by the end of 17c. It was restored at the end of the 19c. In the foreground is Iona Dun or Cairn. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
