Aerial view of Aberscross, near Rogart, East Sutherland, looking N.

SC 1864921

Description Aerial view of Aberscross, near Rogart, East Sutherland, looking N.

Date 1991

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1864921

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Aberscross is on the NE side of the River Fleet and SE of Rogart. This is a general view of an area which has many archaeological features - cairns, settlements, hut circles - but none can be clearly seen in this photo. But this view can be related to: SC1864919 and SC 1864920 which focus on the settlement remains towards top right of picture; SC1864918 which is situated at top left; and SC1864917 which is just out of picture at bottom right. The remains which can be clearly seen at bottom right are not recorded on Canmore, the HER or the OS map and can barely be seen on Bing. However, they are probably another part of this extended settlement. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
