Scope and Content Mallaig is a fishing village on the Sound of Sleat. It developed following the opening of the railway and the establishing of the harbour in 1901. The railway station is to the right of the harbour. At bottom left is the township of Courteachan and above it is the township of An T-Aon Chladach, both now part of Mallaig. The large building at top right is Mallaig High School, opened in 1989, when the existing Secondary School was upgraded to a six year status.
