Scope and Content Loch Morar is the deepest loch in Scotland and rumoured to have its own monster - Morag - to rival Loch Ness. This view shows the west end of the loch with its collection of islands, on the furthest west of which (Eilean Ban) is an R.C. Bishop's house, established illegally in 1650. It was then converted into a R.C. College in 1714 but burned in the aftermath of Culloden in 1746. At lower centre the village of Morar is just coming into view. Other sites of interest are Rhubana Lodge to right of centre, which was requisitioned during WW2 as a training centre for Special Operations Executive agents, and Morar Lodge which is to the left of the first little bay on the north side of the loch. This was built in 1878 as a holiday home by the Lovat family. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
