Scope and Content The Churchill Barriers were built between 1940 and 1942 to protect the British naval fleet in the important natural harbour of Scapa Flow at the centre of the Orkney archipelago. No 1 provides a causeway between the Mainland and Lamb Holm. The village of St. Mary's is at top of photo. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
