Scope and Content This is a view of the north-eastern end of the Caledonian Canal at Muirtown, Inverness where it opens into the Beauly Firth. The canal was built by Thomas Telford and opened in 1822. The railway swing bridge is in the centre of the photo. The Kessock Bridge and Black Isle are at the top, Scorguie is at the bottom and Merkinch is on the right. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
