Scope and Content The distillery buildings are in the centre of the photo. There was whisky distilling in the Tomatin area for many years before it became legally produced c. 1897 when the distillery was built. The river Findhorn is to the left, then the A9 trunk road and the railway through the centre of the photo. In the far distance are the 2 viaducts that carry them across the Findhorn. To the far left of the distillery buildings is the Freeburn Hotel, said to have been built in 1745, a stopping place for Bonnie Prince Charlie on his way to Culloden.
