Scope and Content Nairn is a former seaport at the mouth of the river Nairn. Telford altered the course of the river which provided for the building of a harbour and wharf and c. 1837 the breakwater, Nairn then became a busy fishing station. There are too many Canmore and HER references to list of the buildings. A prominent landmark is the Marine Hotel, left in the trees by the shore. Nairn has a 3 span stone bridge over the river originally built c1631, but was rebuilt many times. Beside was the later Nairn Castle, nothing remains.
