Scope and Content At the top of the photo is Kessock Bridge which takes the A9 over the Beauly Firth to the Black Isle, It was built in 1976-82 by a Consortium, opened 1982, and replaces the Kessock Ferry. At the mouth of the River Ness in the centre of the photo is Inverness Harbour. The 11 span arched Bridge over the River Ness is Ness Viaduct built by Joseph MItchell to carry the railway. It was washed away in Feb 1989. The nearest Bridge is the Waterloo road Bridge or Black Bridge. To the left of the River is Thornbush Shipyard.
