Scope and Content A general view of the NE coast of the Black isle with Munlochy Bay middle foreground and Chanonry Point in the distance. The prominent forested hill mid foreground is Ormond Hill topped by Ormond castle/fort, the seat of the Ormonds c. 1179. It was destroyed in c. 1650 by Cromwell's army. Only the foundations and ditches now remain. On the headland opposite, Craigiehowe Hill, is an unrecorded dun, with the site of a cave and holy well at its base on the shore. The break in the trees on the N shore of Munlochy Bay represents the site of Bay Quarry and Harbour, from which stone was quarried to build Fort George in the C18. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
