Date 1984

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1862647

Scope and Content In the centre of the photo on the promontory beside the Beauly Firth is Bunchrew House, now a hotel. Built in 1615 by Frasers of Lovat, it then passed to John or Duncan Forbes in 1670. There used to be a moat round the house; also a drawbridge, the last arch of which fell into ruins about 1839. At the right hand side at the edge of the Firth is the line of a sewer, groyne or jetty. The road is the A862 to Beauly, beside is the railway. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
