Scope and Content A collection of material relating to William and Henry Haworth, designers at the Carron Ironworks, c.1800 comprising sketches and design drawings for decorative panels to be cast by the Ironworks for use on goods such as chimneypieces. Also a cabinet of medallions, some antique, which were used as sources for design, along with several sample castings comprising the plaster moulds and metal plaques cast from them. A collection of intaglios, probably collected by William and Haworth. Photocopy of contract of employment for William Haworth. Further material relating to the Haworth family of designers. Photograph of miniature portrait of ‘sam hwth’ painted by Moses Harris; two early booklets on Carron Iron Works, 1898 and 1909; photograph of Henry Haworth as painted by Samuel De Wilde (cousin of William Haworth); extracts from ‘Cupola’ , Carron’s internal magazine; family tree 'from Samuel to myself and my sister Pat'; emailed material re Haworth furniture now in America; copy of indenture of Samuel Haworth to 'John How, Joyner', in 1736; various drawings by John Kerr and Robert Whyte; Old Carron Gates drawing; original wax mould and casting of John Kerr in profile made by his son James Kerr.
Archive History The collection comprises three accessions gifted to RCAHMS and to Historic Environment Scotland: Acc No 2014/164, Acc No 2015/122, and Acc No 2016/94.
