Scope and Content The collection comprises: Photographic copies of drawings for Fettes College by David Bryce, 1862, and Robert Rowand Anderson, 1883. Photographic copies of perspective drawings for Fettes College by David Bryce, c1862. Photographic copies of designs for Fettes College, Edinburgh. The designs, not all of which were executed, relate to Robert Rowand Anderson's 1883 alterations and additions. The rear extension to the main college building is included as well as plans of the subsidiary houses of Moredun, Carrington and Glencorse; the swimming pool; lodges; Moredun Crescent and a general plan of the site. Photographic copies of drawings of Fettes College, Edinburgh, by David Bryce, 1862, and a plan by Robert Rowand Anderson, 1885.

Archive History Previously catalogued as Collection 262/659. The collection comprises successive Surveys of a Private Collection of Fettes College drawings by RCAHMS, in 1974, 1976, 1996 (accessioned as Acc No 1997/35) and 1999 (Acc No 1999/228).

Administrative History Fettes College, built 1864-70 to designs by David Bryce, is a conspicuous landmark of north Edinburgh. Franco-Scottish gothic in style, it comprises a three-storey attic and basement main block, symmetrical main front with centre lead-roofed tower, and four-storey towers with tall roofs on each end elevation.To the rear is a two-storey wing with a flamboyant chapel.
