Scope and Content Long cairn at Stiddrig, Dumfries and Galloway Somewhat truncated by stone robbing, the long cairn at Stiddrig lies within a modern forestry plantation on the north-west shoulder of Broadshaw Rig. Within the triangular clearing lies a pear-shaped long cairn with a concave façade. Stone robbing has mutilated the cairn's 'tail' where the burial chamber may have lain. Long cairns of this type generally date to the Neolithic period and often contained burials. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
