SKETCH BOOK 7: Pilkington Jackson album, (c.f.PA 10)
Album covered in black grained leather with fifty grey card pages slotted to take two postcards on each side, acquired in 1984 as part of the Pilkington Jackson Collection. It contains postcards collected by the sculptor, showing carvings in wood and stone including details from cathedrals at York, Gloucester, Wells and Lincoln, the Black Dwarf statue at Peebles, (David Ritchie 1740-1811, by Forrest of Leith) Edinburgh Castle, a portrait bust of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, Lemoyne, (SNPG photo Annan,) St Giles Cathedral and the Colvin Fountain at Moffat. There is also a series of postcards of the Coins of Syracuse and one or two of foreign carvings. |
