Scope and Content Fort at Oakwood, nr Selkirk, Scottish Borders This fort at Oakwood is on a low knoll which rises above the surrounding countryside. There are good views to the N and W, and to the E the signalling station at Eildon Hill North can be seen. The fort seems to have been deliberately abandoned. This is an aerial view of the site. The fort can be seen as a regular cropmark, taking up most of the left side of the image. An annexe can be seen leading on from the top end of the fort. Entrances can be seen in the centre of each of the four sides. The gateways of the forts are inturned, with the rampart curving in to meet each of the four gates. The fort was not reoccupied in the Antonine period. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
