Scope and Content Fortlet at Tocherknowe, Scottish Borders This Roman fortlet is at Tocherknowe. It guards the crossing of the Lyne Water, to the N of West Linton. Part of it has now been destroyed by ploughing, but its outline can still be made out. This is an aerial view of the fortlet. It now lies in an area of permanent pasture. Two defensive ditches can be seen to the SW, within the tree-line. The fortlet lies to the W of the Roman road from Clydesdale to the Forth. The site was recognised via aerial photography and trial excavations have been undertaken by GS Maxwell. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
