Scope and Content Barry Hill, fort, Perth and Kinross Situated on the top of Barry Hill is an impressive prehistoric fort. Overlooking the mouth of Glen Isla, it commands an extensive view across Strathmore. The central oval part of the fort is surrounded by a massive bank of rubble, 10m thick and rising 2m to 2.5m above the interior level. Blocking the south and east approaches (top and right) is a substantial outwork, up to 15m thick and 3.5m in height. At least two periods of construction can be identified at Barry Hill fort. Beneath the massive defences are the remains of an earlier fort. The small circular stone-built structures visible in the photograph within the fort defences are of recent date.
