Scope and Content Cropmarks of a Roman fortlet at Cargill, Perth and Kinross This Roman fortlet overlooks the left bank of the River Isla, and was discovered as a result of aerial survey in 1941. The double ditches of the fortlet defences are clearly visible, though nothing of the interior can be seen. Gateways to the fortlet lie to the north-west and south-east. Excavations in 1965 by Professor J K St Joseph suggested that the site had been abandoned after a brief period of occupation. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
