Scope and Content Town of Arinagour, Coll, Argyll and Bute The fishing village of Arinagour, meaning 'sheiling of the goats', is located at the head of Loch Ithiuriune on the island of Coll's east coast. Built in the mid-19th century, it is the main settlement and port on the island. Arinagour was once a fishing port, but now it largely provides anchorage for small yachts and the terminus for the ferry from Oban. This view shows the eastern part of Arinagour. The harbour area can be seen (centre left). The Free Church, built in 1884, is located at the corner of the shore road and a second road that runs inland (lower centre left). Mairi Hedderwick (born 1939), author of the Katie Morag children's books, once lived on Coll. The fictional island of Struay, that is home to Katie Morag, is based on the author's experience of Coll.
