Scope and Content Broch known as Doon Castle at Ardwell Point, Dumfries and Galloway Doon Castle is the best preserved broch in the area, but it is smaller than the examples in the N of Scotland. It is built on a small promontory on the S side of Ardwell Point. This is an aerial view of the broch. The inner wall is faced with square blocks and there are two cells inside the walls. There are two entrances, one towards the sea and one towards the land where there is also a transverse wall. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
