Scope and Content Aerial view of Rossdhu House, Strathclyde Rossdhu House lies c.3.5km south of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond. It has been the seat of the Clan Colquhoun since the original Rossdhu Castle was built in the 15th century. Rossdhu House was built to replace the castle in 1772-4. The house is in the centre of this aerial view. The original house was a two-storeyed six-bayed block, which had a pedimented columned portico added in the early 19th century. The adjoining flanking wings were also added in the early 19th century. The original Rossdhu House was probably designed by John Baxter, with contributions from Sir John Clerk of Penicuik. Internal alterations were carried out in 1910 by William Leiper and W Hunter McNab. The house was renovated 1995-6 and is now a golf club. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
