Scope and Content Aerial view of Hibernian Football Club, Easter Road Stadium, Albion Road, Edinburgh Hibernian Football Club, popularly known as 'Hibs' or 'the Hi-bees' was formed in 1875. It shared a ground with other football clubs until 1880, when it moved to the first of two sites it has occupied beside Easter Road. The club, whose colours are green and white, has been on its present site for over a century. This shows the stadium in 1993 when the south terrace (top) was still uncovered and unseated. To meet safety requirements following the Taylor Report, the club had to install bucket seats on this terrace in 1994. New stands have since been constructed to the north (bottom), south and west (right) of the stadium. 96 Liverpool football fans died at Hillsborough, Sheffield in 1989. Afterwards, Lord Justice Taylor's report condemned safety standards at football grounds and recommended improvements. The most important of these was the introduction of all-seated stadiums. Like all other top clubs, Hibs had to comply with this regulation by 1994. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
